After graduating from the Odessa SSMSh them. prof. P.S. Stolyarsky in the class of E.V. Levinson and Moscow Conservatory P.I. Tchaikovsky in the class of prof. YES. Bashkirov and departure from the USSR in 1974, Boris Blokh became the winner of several significant international piano competitions, including: the competition for young performers in New York (1st prize, 1976), the international competition. F. Busoni in Bolzano (1st prize, 1978).

 

Boris Blokh has performed as a soloist with the world's leading orchestras. Among the conductors with whom the musician performed, were Lorin Maazel and Kirill Kondrashin, Philip Entremont, Christoph Eschenbach and others. Boris Bloch is a frequent guest at international music festivals: Salzburg and Berlin, Lucerne and Flemish, Streza festivals, Istanbul, Istanbul, -Brescia, Oviedo, Chopin festivals in Polish Dusniki and Czech Marienbad, as well as the festival “Outstanding Students of Dmitry Bashkirov” in St. Petersburg. In 1989, Bloch was awarded the gold medal of the International Listov Society in Vienna for his great contribution to the development of the international Listiana.

 

In 1990, the Liszt Society in Budapest awarded him the "Grand Prix du Disque Liszt" for the best recording of the year, and in 2012 the same society awarded him the Honorary Prize for his newest recording of works by F. Liszt, which included Six Great Etudes by Paganini, Fantasy on two themes from Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro, Tarantella Dargomyzhsky and others.

 

Since 1991 B. Bloch's conducting career begins. He was invited to the position of musical director of the Odessa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (1993-1995), and in 2014-2016 he was its artistic director.

 

Since 1985, Boris Bloch has been a leading professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen-Duisburg. For more than 10 years he taught master courses at the Mozarteum International Summer Academy in Salzburg, he was also invited as a professor to teach master courses in Weimar, Santander, Darmstadt, etc. In 2007 in Duisburg, Boris Bloch was awarded the “Teacher of the Year” prize. In 2016, he was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Institute of Music. Glier in Kiev and the Kalaidos University in Switzerland. In March 2018, Boris Bloch was awarded another title - Honorary Member of the List Society - in the composer's homeland in the Austrian city of Riding.
